Spotting romance scams
Romance scammers target every community, and they often pose as someone from your own culture. The signs are the same everywhere.
Warning signs
- They ask for money, gift cards, crypto, or help with an investment. Always a scam.
- They want to move to WhatsApp or Telegram immediately.
- They cannot video call, ever, and always have a reason.
- The story escalates: an emergency, a customs fee, a stuck inheritance.
- Their photos look like a model's, and the details do not add up.
What Dor Dor does
Every photo is approved by a person, banned accounts cannot simply return, and the chat warns the recipient when a message mentions money, a link or a phone number. If anything feels wrong, report the person from the chat; the last messages go with your report as evidence.
If you have sent money
Stop contact, report them to us and to your bank straight away, and report to your local police or fraud service. It is not your fault: these are professionals.
